The HBO movie “Mary and Martha,” which filmed in the Wilmington area and South Africa last year, will air sometime in April, according to HBO programming president Michael Lombardo. An exact date has not been announced.

“Mary and Martha” stars Hilary Swank and Brenda Blethyn as mothers who bond over a shared tragedy: Both women lost sons to malaria. The film is written by Richard Curtis (“The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency”) and directed by Philip Noyce, who shot the pilot for ABC’s “Revenge” in Wilmington in 2011.
