Sci-fi Thriller ‘I Am Mother’ Streaming on Netflix This June

Following its World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, Netflix acquired I Am Mother, the Australian sci-fi thriller from first time director Grant Sputore.

The film stars Acadamy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank as a stranger who is taken into a bunker where they have doubts about one of the hosts and their claims about the outside world. Insidious‘ Rose Byrne will be lending her voice to the evil robot.

Bloody Disgusting learned just now that the film will arrive on Netflix June 7, 2019.

“I Am Mother is a sci-fi thriller about a teenage girl (Clara Rugaard), who is the first of a new generation of humans to be raised by Mother (Byrne), a robot designed to repopulate the earth after the extinction of humankind. But the pair’s unique relationship is threatened when an injured stranger (Swank) arrives with news that calls into question everything Daughter has been told about the outside world and her Mother’s intentions.”

Meredith Borders reviewed the film, explaining that it “brings the suspense to smart sci-fi.”
