The first trailer for Amelia has landed proving the decision to cast Hilary Swank as the distinguished pilot was spot-on perfect.

Amelia tells the story of pilot Amelia Earhart through her relationship with eventual husband George Putnam played by Richard Gere. She, her plane and navigator Fred Noonan vanished in the Pacific Ocean during an attempt to become the first woman to complete a circumnavigational flight of the globe in 1937.

Co-starring alongside Swank and Gere in Amelia are Ewan McGregor, Christopher Eccleston and Joe Anderson. The film is tentatively set for a limited release on October 23.
