Hilary takes on the Ice Bucket Challenge

The viral craze known as the “Ice Bucket Challenge” is urging people to raise awareness for — and money to fight against — Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease) by pouring a bucket of ice cold water on their heads and then nominating others to either do the same or donate money to the cause. (Many have done both.)

The ALS Association has reported donations in the millions since the challenge went viral on July 29th with this video by former Boston College baseball player Pete Frates, who suffers from the disease. Frates nominated himself after learning about the Ice Bucket Challenge from one of its founders, Pat Quinn, who is also an ALS survivor.
